Survivor's Speak

We believe the impact of Swayam's work is immediately understood when listening to the voices of survivors and how far they have come on their journey to recovery from violence.

“Ever since coming to Swayam, my self-confidence has increased, my communication with others has improved resulting in better relationships. Previously I hesitated to speak to others, go anywhere, or do anything. Whereas now I even go for my court case by myself. I take my decisions myself – what is good for me, what I want, with whom to mix – I am very satisfied in following the path that I have created for myself. After coming to Swayam I have made new friends and it has helped me in my work as well as dealings with the outside world.” - Puja

“I was a mental wreck before coming to Swayam. I felt extremely alone and was at a loss thinking how I would manage to bring up my son. After meeting other women with similar problems and Swayam staff, I could overcome my loneliness, increase my confidence and was able to stand on my own feet. The thought that I can turn to Swayam whenever I have a problem has gone a long way in reducing my problems.” - Nuzhath
