Work with Survivor's Families

77 families accessed Swayam’s services in 2018/19

We help families better understand the woman’s situation, her behaviour, her limitations and the impact of violence on her, so that she gets the required support from them. We provide them with a space to learn about women’s rights, share their experiences and problems and offer solutions and mutual support.

Healing families: A survivor’s mother was severely pressurizing her to return to her marital home where she was previously subjected to domestic violence. However, with Swayam’s intervention through family counselling, the mother understood the implications of sending her daughter back. Subsequently, the survivor filed a case under the PWDVA and continues to live with her mother.
